Our children are always keen to meet prospective families and chat about their experiences at School; we believe they are our best ambassadors! The below tour gives families the opportunity to come along and meet with some of our children and staff to find out what they love about being at King Edward VI Preparatory.
Nursery and Reception Open Morning – Friday 13 June
Join us for a wonderful morning exploring all that KES Prep has to offer our youngest learners. Families can enjoy a petting farm, face painting, and arts and crafts, while discovering the nurturing environment that sets our Early Years apart.
You’ll have the opportunity to explore our beautiful Nursery and Reception setting, including the orchard, outdoor learning classroom, and canopy area — as well as learn about exciting new developments.
We are expanding our Nursery provision and making transformational changes to our Reception classrooms and outdoor Playscape, which will feature sandpits, a willow tunnel, and a mud kitchen — all designed to spark imagination, creativity, and joyful exploration.
Parents can also sample the exceptional food enjoyed by our youngest pupils each day, prepared with care in our on-site kitchens.

Individual Tours
We welcome families in to school for individual tours throughout the year – at a time convenient to you. These visits are an excellent way to visit the school, meet our staff, children and animals, and explore our facilities and extensive grounds.

Learn about our passion for giving children the best start to their school education. Jo Humphreys, Head of Early Years, and our Nursery Manager, will be on hand to answer all those all-important questions, while your child enjoys a play session in our Early Years Department. Incorporating our Nursery and Reception classes, our purpose-built and newly refurbished building is designed with the needs of the child at its heart.
Experience our wonderful classrooms, large canopied outdoor classroom outdoor play area and Little Meadow, our new outdoor classroom complete with a fruit tree orchard, insect hotels, a den building area and a path to the farm. Be warned, once your child sees some our farm animals they might not want to leave!
We invite you into our Pre-Prep, which includes Year 1 and Year 2, and is housed in a purpose built, modern, light and spacious building with two classes per year group.
Visit our classrooms to meet our children and teachers and experience our creative and stretching curriculum for Pre-Prep. This is a fantastic opportunity to see all that we can offer and to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Pre-Prep, Kirsten Walton, about how we can support your child’s transition into the next stage of their education.
The Lower Prep years at KES Prep are an incredibly exciting time, packed with opportunities. We warmly invite you into our classrooms to meet our middle school children and teachers and see how we gently start to prepare our children for the next stages of their education through a broad and challenging curriculum.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see the difference preparatory school education can make and to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Lower Prep, Lucy Tippett.
Our Upper Prep are where the excitement of an inspiring, secondary-style curriculum guides our children to become more independent and prepares them for their next steps in education.
Specialist teachers across the curriculum mean students are taught by passionate, knowledgeable staff who ensure every child is challenged at their own level within a bespoke curriculum.
