Ukraine Fundraising Day

Supporting Charities

Supporting charities is important at King Edward VI Preparatory School - these are some of the ways in which we have raised money:

  • At Harvest time, we collected different food and sanitary items and delivered them to Romsey Food Bank – a local charity that helps those who find it difficult to provide for their families.
  • We held a cake sale to support Morocco and Derna following the deadly earthquake and floods. We sent £441 to The British Red Cross.
  • To raise money for Children in Need we held a bring and buy and a cake sale. The children were also able to wear non-uniform. This raised close to £1,000.
  • The Bag2School initiative was successful, as always. This charity delivers the clothes we donate to many corners of the world, including The Gambia, Senegal, and Poland, to name a few. In these countries, our donations are sold in clothing shops to help support families, ensuring a constant flow of produce and income.
  • We raised money for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week by "Expressing Ourselves".
  • In the Spring term, people wore non-uniform to support Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.
  • We supported Mandiva Primary School in Zimbabwe by donating lots of books.
  • We took part in the annual Christmas Jumper Day for Save the children.
  • We supported three local charities at Christmas (Baby Necessities, Romsey Opportunity Group and Romsey Food Bank) by having a ‘Tree of Wishes’. Wishes had been requested by the three charities and each child visited their department Christmas Tree and chose a wish that they would like to donate.
  • We supported our three house charities by holding a ‘Break the School Rule Day’.

It has been great to see people continue to put themselves out for others and contribute generously to charitable causes. Thank you!
