We understand that choosing the right school for your child can be a daunting process, but we are here to help. We are thrilled to open our doors to prospective families for on-site visits so that you can get a true impression of life at KES Prep.
Our children are always keen to meet prospective families and chat about their experiences at School; we believe they are our best ambassadors! The below tours give families the opportunity to come along and meet with some of our children and staff to find out what they love about being at King Edward VI Preparatory.
Nursery & Reception 'Little performers'
We are holding a Nursery and Reception 'Little Performers' event on Friday 22 November, from 9.30am – 11.30am, for new visitors aged 2-4, in our Early Years Library.
Bring your little ones to enjoy performing arts games, dressing up, action songs, and have fun playing a range of percussion instruments. Refreshments will be available to enjoy during the session.*

Whole School Open Morning
We’re delighted to invite you to our School in Action Open Morning on Friday, 7 February at 9:30am. This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of KES Prep, where learning, creativity, and community thrive.
What to Expect:
Meet our enthusiastic pupils and dedicated staff as we open the doors to a normal school day at KES Prep. You’ll have the chance to tour our outstanding facilities and see first-hand the engaging learning environments we offer. Families with younger children are warmly encouraged to bring them along to explore our wonderful Nursery and Early Years settings and outdoor learning areas.
For Prospective Nursery and Reception Families
Parents and little ones are invited to stay-and-play in our Nursery and Reception classrooms, guided by Jo Humphreys, our Head of Early Years. Experience the joy of learning through play in our vibrant Early Years spaces and meet some of our amazing team.
For Prospective Families of Year 1 – Year 6 Pupils
Come and see us in action! Our staff and pupils will be hard at work immersed in all the exciting opportunities that make KES Prep such a great place to learn. You'll be shown around by our Year 5 and Year 6 guides and have the chance to chat to staff and pupils.
Event Schedule:
- 9:30am: Registration and welcome refreshments
- 9:50am: Welcome address from Headmistress, Rebecca Smith
- 10.00am: Tour of the School with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils or Stay and Play in Early Years
- 11:00am: Conclude your morning back in the main house with more refreshments and the chance for further discussions with our team.

Individual Tours
We welcome families in to school for individual tours throughout the year – at a time convenient to you. These visits are an excellent way to visit the school, meet our staff, children and animals, and explore our facilities and extensive grounds.

Early Years (Nursery and Reception)
Learn about our passion for giving children the best start to their school education. Jo Humphreys, Head of Early Years, and our Nursery Manager, will be on hand to answer all those all-important questions, while your child enjoys a play session in our Early Years Department. Incorporating our Nursery and Reception classes, our purpose-built and newly refurbished building is designed with the needs of the child at its heart.
Experience our wonderful classrooms, large canopied outdoor classroom outdoor play area and Little Meadow, our new outdoor classroom complete with a fruit tree orchard, insect hotels, a den building area and a path to the farm. Be warned, once your child sees some our farm animals they might not want to leave!
Pre-Prep (Years 1 and 2)
We invite you into our Pre-Prep, which includes Year 1 and Year 2, and is housed in a purpose built, modern, light and spacious building with two classes per year group.
Visit our classrooms to meet our children and teachers and experience our creative and stretching curriculum for Pre-Prep. This is a fantastic opportunity to see all that we can offer and to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Pre-Prep, Kirsten Walton, about how we can support your child’s transition into the next stage of their education.
Lower Prep (Years 3 and 4)
The Lower Prep years at KES Prep are an incredibly exciting time, packed with opportunities. We warmly invite you into our classrooms to meet our middle school children and teachers and see how we gently start to prepare our children for the next stages of their education through a broad and challenging curriculum.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see the difference preparatory school education can make and to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Lower Prep, Lucy Tippett.
Upper Prep (Years 5 & 6)
Our Upper Prep are where the excitement of an inspiring, secondary-style curriculum guides our children to become more independent and prepares them for their next steps in education.
Specialist teachers across the curriculum mean students are taught by passionate, knowledgeable staff who ensure every child is challenged at their own level within a bespoke curriculum. Visit our classrooms and see how KES Prep can provide the perfect springboard for your child to confidently move on into a bigger setting, whilst talking to Upper Prep staff and Head of Upper Prep, Suzy Martin.
