We understand that choosing the right school for your child can be a daunting process, but we are here to help. We are thrilled to open our doors to prospective families for on-site visits so that you can get a true impression of life at KES Prep.
Our children are always keen to meet prospective families and chat about their experiences at School; we believe they are our best ambassadors! The below tours give families the opportunity to come along and meet with some of our children and staff to find out what they love about being at King Edward VI Preparatory.
Nursery & Prep School Open Morning – Saturday 28 September 2024
Please bring along your children to experience a selection of differrent activities.
Early Years (age 2-4) will be venturing down to our Little Meadow area for a range of apple themed activities. They will be toasting cinnamon apples on the fire, making apple juice, printing with apples, rolling apples and creating apple crafts. There is also our mud kitchen, water wall, digging pit and climbing area to enjoy too.
Children interested in Pre-Prep (age 5-6) will get the chance to visit our farm animals and see the delights of our farm area with a "Spot the animal" activity sheet. This will be followed by the chance enjoy art activities.
Sport is available for children in Lower Prep (age 7-8), where they can participate in handball, netball and fooball, in our Sports Hall, while children in Upper Prep (age 9-11) can enjoy a STEAM session: lego coding, VR headsets and electrical circuits. Children in Lower or Upper Prep may participate in the alternative activity if they wish to do so. Please state your preference to the Admissions Team.
Tours of the School will be available for parents during this time.
This open event will run on Saturday 28 September: 10.00am -12.00pm.

Individual Tours
We welcome families in to school for individual tours throughout the year – at a time convenient to you. These visits are an excellent way to visit the school, meet our staff, children and animals, and explore our facilities and extensive grounds.

Early Years (Nursery and Reception)
Learn about our passion for giving children the best start to their school education. Jo Humphreys, Head of Early Years, and our Nursery Manager, Lisa Hurst, will be on hand to answer all those all-important questions, while your child enjoys a play session in our Early Years Department. Incorporating our Nursery and Reception classes, our purpose-built and newly refurbished building is designed with the needs of the child at its heart.
Experience our wonderful classrooms, large canopied outdoor classroom outdoor play area and Little Meadow, our new outdoor classroom complete with a fruit tree orchard, insect hotels, a den building area and a path to the farm. Be warned, once your child sees some our farm animals they might not want to leave!
Pre-Prep (Years 1 and 2)
We invite you into our Pre-Prep, which includes Year 1 and Year 2, and is housed in a purpose built, modern, light and spacious building with two classes per year group.
Visit our classrooms to meet our children and teachers and experience our creative and stretching curriculum for Pre-Prep. This is a fantastic opportunity to see all that we can offer and to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Pre-Prep, Kirsten Walton, about how we can support your child’s transition into the next stage of their education.
Lower Prep (Years 3 and 4)
The Lower Prep years at KES Prep are an incredibly exciting time, packed with opportunities. We warmly invite you into our classrooms to meet our middle school children and teachers and see how we gently start to prepare our children for the next stages of their education through a broad and challenging curriculum.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see the difference preparatory school education can make and to hear from our Headmistress, Rebecca Smith, and Head of Lower Prep, Lucy Tippett.
Upper Prep (Years 5 & 6)
Our Upper Prep are where the excitement of an inspiring, secondary-style curriculum guides our children to become more independent and prepares them for their next steps in education.
Specialist teachers across the curriculum mean students are taught by passionate, knowledgeable staff who ensure every child is challenged at their own level within a bespoke curriculum. Visit our classrooms and see how KES Prep can provide the perfect springboard for your child to confidently move on into a bigger setting, whilst talking to Upper Prep staff and Head of Upper Prep, Suzy Martin.
