King Edward VI Preparatory School Celebrates Language and Culture Day
On Thursday, 14 November, King Edward VI Preparatory School in Romsey hosted its biennial Language and Culture Day, an event dedicated to celebrating and promoting the richness of diverse languages, cultures and civilizations.
This year’s event featured workshops in Mandarin Chinese, Swedish, and Ukrainian, alongside engaging activities that explored classical languages and cultures, including Greek. To finish the day, pupils enjoyed an exciting session of Latin American dance, with performances of Samba, Tango, and Paso Doble.
At KES Prep, the School is committed to exposing pupils to a variety of languages, believing that language learning fosters skills and confidence essential for becoming 'Global Citizens.' The school views multilingualism as an important part of personal development, opening new avenues for self-exploration and growth through immersion in foreign cultures.
As Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow.”
