Enjoying our Annual STEAM Week at KES Prep
STEAM Week Sparks Creativity and Discovery at KES Prep
Pupils at King Edward VI Preparatory School have had an exciting and inspiring STEAM Week, packed with hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and ignite creativity across science, technology, engineering, art, and maths. This year’s theme, ‘Changing and Adapting’, provided the perfect foundation for exploration and innovation.
Throughout the week, each year group delved into a different aspect of ‘changing and adapting’, from climate change and plant adaptation to recycling. Pupils enjoyed visits from local STEM Ambassadors, designed and built habitat boxes for our school grounds, and even took a ‘trip’ to the rainforest using our VR headsets!
Creativity was at the heart of the week, with pupils creating podcasts and using AI to design fictitious plants, bringing together science and digital innovation in a truly engaging way.
The week concluded with an exciting jobs fair, where pupils had the opportunity to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering, art, and maths—broadening their horizons and inspiring them to think about future possibilities.
STEAM Week is a fantastic example of KES Prep’s commitment to hands-on, interactive learning, ensuring that pupils explore, discover, and develop a lifelong love of learning. As the Preparatory School for King Edward VI School, Southampton, KES Prep offers a personalised educational experience, nurturing every child's strengths and passions.
